Gordonia axillaris is a species of evergreen tree that belongs to the Theaceae family. It is native to the southeastern United States, where it grows in wetland areas, swamps, and along stream banks. Gordonia axillaris is an attractive tree with glossy, dark green leaves that are 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) long and 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) wide. The tree produces white, cup-shaped flowers that measure up to 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter and have yellow stamens in the center. The flowers bloom in late fall to early winter, providing a splash of color in the autumn landscape. This tree typically reaches a height of 20-40 feet (6-12 meters) and a width of 15-20 feet (4.5-6 meters) when fully mature. partial shade to full sun.
